Gene's Root Beer and Hot Dogs

Great local place in Anderson, Indiana. Not much to it. Pull in, roll down your window, look at the hanging menu from the center post and order. Get the Spanish dog and onion rings with a frosty glass of homemade root beer you won’t be sorry. Cash or card it doesn’t matter. Fun place and definitely perfect for a cheap dinner date or a night out with friends/family.

I first enjoyed Gene's last summer. There is nothing fancy about it at all. The food is good, the root beer is good, and they have really good soft serve ice cream. The servers are friendly, and the service is fast! Go eat here, unless you hate yourself.

I'm not sure what it is about Gene's that keeps me coming back...
The servers are excellent and bring your food to your car for you, but the food itself is fairly unremarkable.
The chili cheese dog with onions is my usual order, and I do enjoy how they don't skimp on the onions.
If you're in the mood for a root beer float, Gene's is a great place to get one. Don't drink too much though, as there are no restrooms available to the public.

Love Gene's. Gotta have a Spanish dog at least once a year (their version of a chili dog). Great root beer, obviously (better be since it's in the name!), and good side options. Prices are good. There aren't too many drive-in restaurants these days, so it's kind of nice just for the change of pace.
