Went with my daughter, she lives in the area. Scotch eggs are the BOMB!!! Great specialty burgers. Good selection of bottled beers brewed in the area.
One of my favorite restaurants in town. I love the outdoor atmosphere in the summer. Staff are always nice. Food is pretty delicious as well.
We went here as a group of 5 for dinner, no reservation. We found the venue through Happy Cow as we have vegan and meat eaters in the group and wanted to cater for everyone. The wait staff were really friendly, happy to explain the beer selection to us. The food was wonderful! We had burgers, seitan tenders, fish and chips and vegan pizza. The portions are really generous, the food is freshly cooked and all really tasty. The venue has parking and both indoor and outdoor seating. Was a great old-style pub feel, would absolutely come back and highly recommend.
Food was good. Good selection. Beer was good, althought not very cold and I love a cold beer. Mirrors behind bar need some cleaning. Sounds irrelevant, but the first time I walk into a new place, things like this stand out to me. Staff was very friendly and if we're back in the area, we'd give it another shot. Love the 'historic' feel to the building. It's the kind of place where everyone who comes in seems to want to chat...I love this????
To start off, it can be confusing for a first timer to figure out where to go. Don't let that drive you away! It's worth taking the adventure a few steps further.
The ambiance and decor is inviting, cozy, and pretty hip. The staff are pretty nice. I've had some particularly stellar experiences when asking for recommendations, and really never met an unfriendly staff.
The beer is pretty damn good. I was able to try beers I never heard of before and never left unsatisfied. You can ask for tastes of things if you're indecisive.
The food is the only thing taking away a star. I've had better food. It's not awful by any means. I just wouldn't think to go there to grab a bite. For me, the beer and locale is where it's at.
Overall, I would recommend this place for a friendly get-together, a meeting, a date, or a first time for
Give it a try!
