Elis food is good, but every time I go there they are closed. They changed their hours to close at 4pm and are randomly closed at 2pm sometimes.

Got Delivery - a Turkey and Pastrami (The Big E) with a Caesar salad on the side. Food was here super fast, which is a plus and the sandwich was a decent size as was the salad. My sub came wrapped in heavy butcher's paper, which was a nice effect. The sandwich was a bit lean on the portions--a departure from the menu description, but in line with the pictures on the website. That's fine as nothing was overpowered by anything else and all the ingredients were still there . I liked that the lettuce was cut up more slaw-like than just leaf lettuce. I didn't care for their specialty sweet-bread, but I tend not to like those so I can't really say it was bad, just not for me.

The salad was standard fare romaine hearts with croutons and a peppercorn Caesar dressing that tasted kind of Kraft-y. Which I like okay, but it surprised me. The Parmesan cheese on the salad was the sort of powdered shake cheese you put on your kid's spaghetti at home--not really what I expected from a deli, especially given the price of the salad.

If I could give Eli's a 3.5, that would be about right--an okay meal option but hardly something to compete with the other delis and delivery choices you have in Bloomington. As it stands, 3 stars feels about right--with the hope that a little improvement here and there can help this establishment truly shine.
