Aaron's Lake House

Good food. Just came back to new owners. The place is a needed break from the water and the food is good too. We were the only customers on Easter but the server was very nice and the service was good. If your in the area I would check it out.

If you're coming through to Turkey Run or Shades or Raccoon Lake from Indy this is a must stop for any meal.

We got lunch after a hike at the lake and it was terrific. Exactly like the supper clubs your parents or grandparents may have been familiar with. The waitress knows everyone and it's super popular with the locals.

The lunch special was $9.99 for 4 pieces of fried chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, garlic bread, and a trip to the salad bar. While the sides were good, they weren't something you'd write home about. But that chicken. Oh man. The best. It took me back to when I was about 8 and my great aunt made chicken at her house. And there was plenty of it, so much we saved two pieces and had them for dinner.

My wife had the catfish and fries. They looked good and she said the fish was light, flaky, and well fried. I couldn't tell you, I was too focused on the chicken.

After we finished we walked around to the bar in the back. There's a full bar, pool tables, and a stage. If I was camping at Raccoon Lake I'd definitely have a few beers here and walk back to the tent.

A really cool spot and unexpected find!

We enjoyed the food here. Great portions and simply delicious. The fries were hot and the best we ever remember. The waitress was so friendly and attentive. We look forward to coming again.
