First time visit. Clean, quick and fairly priced. A large selection of sauces. Great place for lunch with limited lunch time. I will recommend as well as return.
I go here atleast twice a week. My absolute favorite is the smoked turkey entree. The turkey has that lovely Smoky flavor but it's still moist and tender. The pulled pork is also excellent. All of the sides delicious and homemade pickles are a must. I recommend this little restaurant to everyone.
I've had the privilege of eating in some of the best BBQ places East of the Mississippi in the country until I moved out to the West Coast . I missed good BBQ! I've now eaten BBQ in a lot of restaurants since I moved back and Read Street by far is hands down the best! Portions are generous, prices are great, hot sauce selection huge, the interior is clean and campy, plus a bonus outside eating area. My only suggestion is I felt I was missing a St Louis style sauce but with all the other amazing sauces I didn't feel deprived.
The cashier was so nice and made sure we left happy. My husband really liked the Turkey. And they have an outdoor setting area that is very maintained and the breeze was perfect. The food was good and so was the service and atmosphere. We will return!
Great newer restaurant with hearty portions and melt-in-your-mouth meats. The pulled pork on the loaded tots was like butter as was the rib meat sandwich. Need a vegetable? The creamy slaw was very good and just the right portion. The only thing that could be better was the simple bun for the sandwich, though it would probably be too much to ask for them to bake their own. I only tried a couple of the barbeque sauce options. The Georgia peach was sweat and lightly peachy. The NE Mississippi was also sweet, but richer. I couldn't detect any spice in either, but my tolerance is fairly high. I was more impressed by the great selection of hot sauces.
If I hadn't had half an order of loaded tots, I think the sandwich and one side might not have quite filled me up, though there was certainly plenty of meat! I'd just recommend planning on a second side or a cup of chili or something. The prices are seriously reasonable, so this is in no way a criticism.
