Love leaf! They are friendly and have great food
First time there this week. Came with a friend for brunch and was very impressed. Small, quaint, cute cafe. We had a very friendly waiter, & loved the atmosphere!
A hidden gem with super cute vintage decor, nice food, and friendly people. My picky husband approved of their freshly made hollandaise sauce on the eggs benedict. My Moroccan spiced eggs in tomato sauce were also super tasty. This may not be the trendiest brunch place in town, but I love its unique vintage decor and cozy atmosphere.
Adorable cafe with warm-hearted staff and delicious treats. Surrounded by mismatched tables, silverware, teapots and books, I felt as if I’d tumbled right into my favorite children’s book.
Full afternoon tea served at 1:45 requires reservations, but is absolutely worth it for the only place in Iowa City to have scones and cream.
Four stars instead of five only for the English Breakfast tea—made incorrectly (a tsp of tea leaves for an entire pot), so it was very weak, even though we let it steep the full five minutes. Sipped with just a bit of sugar, it sort of passed for a light Darjeeling-type beverage, but it wasn’t the bracing cuppa I’d have had in London (or at home).
But the tea will not stop me from going back when I get the chance. At the end of our meal, my heart AND my tastebuds gave a contented sigh. Thank you LEAF Kitchen! ❤️
If you just want to amble by in your flip flops, peruse an actual newspaper, and order a delicious breakfast, Leaf is the place. It's a small restaurant; not many tables, but I can see why it's popular. The menu takes a personal twist on classic items, and your mouth will be watering before you can make a decision. I chose ham and cheese crepes with a side of buttermilk pancakes, and my guest had a spinach eggs benedict. They have fresh squeezed juices, other beverages, and often, there's a special (I think today's involved blueberries). There are even a few old books available if you want to really chill.
