District 23 Cantina

First time visiting. Chips, salsa & guac were really tasty! We also enjoyed the chicken & chorizo fajitas. One order was plenty to share.

Great Improvement and atmosphere over the Mexican restaurant that existed there prior to District 23. Very attentive server. I ordered the shrimp empanadas as an appetizer. I wouldn't order them again. The flavor was decent but I think whatever was put inside made them soggy and unappetizing. The Mayan grilled salmon was beyond delicious!

Had a good first lunch experience! My wife got the shrimp tempura and hot Cheeto sushi which was very unique and delicious. We were not expecting sushi to be available and it did not dissapoint. I got the steak quesadilla which was solid. Next time I'll likely ask for some sour cream and shredded lettuce on top if possible. Will be returning!

The mashed taters were blah. Didn't look like they had butter or anything on it. Little tiny chunks of taters were in it though. Steak wasn't even warm. Sent that back. It wasn't seasoned, just bland and a little chewy. Waitress said she'd get me a new one, but it was the same steak and I think they just stuck it in the microwave. They were out of ribeyes and I settled for a porterhouse. Waitress did give a discount for it though. My husband enjoyed his burrito and couldn't believe it was huge. It had more chicken than the rice and beans, but he loved it. Fries were good. We weren't impressed with the chips and salsa. Salsa was bland as well. It's debatable if we would be back. The place wasn't busy but clean. The menu's could have been cleaned more though.

Personally didn't care for the California roll I ordered but the street tacos were very very good, especially the carnitas! Birria quesadilla ordered by my friend looked amazing and the birria burrito ordered by my other friend was huge. Both said the birria broth was delicious.
Service/ wait staff are young and could use more training but I could tell our guy was trying.
