Mezcal Tequila Cocina

This was our first time to Mezcal and safe to say we will be back frequently! Everything from the aesthetic of the restaurant down to the service and food was incredible. My girlfriend and I came for lunch and had chips and salsa and queso for appetizers and really enjoyed the salsa it is different than any other Mexican restaurants salsa which was refreshing. The queso was great too. My girlfriend had the mix and match mini street tacos which came with one carnitas, one chicken, and one steak taco with rice and all three meats were perfectly cooked and very well seasoned. I myself had the fried chicken tacos with chipotle slaw on flour tortillas and it was fantastic to say the least the slaw paired perfectly with the fried chicken thighs. I had the street corn for my side and I didn’t want it to end. I think our servers name was Paisley? She was by herself with a busy lunch rush and she did a fantastic job.

Loved the food. My husband ordered the carnitas and steak tacos and the meat was super juicy. I ordered the hanger steak and the meat was super juicy and full of flavor and then the side of street corn was amazing as well. Definitely would come back again

It's a nice change of pace than your usual Mexican spot. Has their own flair and the agave cocktails are pretty good.

Food so far is delicious.

There was a mix up about a server coming to our table. But not a huge deal. Things happen. I look forward to coming back.

We had a great experience at the last soft opening. The wait staff was very good at keeping us informed on any delay, which could have been overlooked or assumed by a new staff. Super friendly and I can tell they are going to be a major part of a great atmosphere here!
I always enjoy eating at Joe's tables. He knows how to keep the "familiarity" of a traditional dish and then come in with a zesty right hook, or subtle roshambo of unique flavor to give it his own unique flavor.

Group had the guacamole, awesome bite to it! Blackened Salmon tacos, cauliflower tacos, and fried calimari. All were awesome!

Hominy hash was a welcomed surprise and the black beans were really great. My personal favorite was the salmon tacos.

Owners Joe and Ryan are just wonderful people that care about bringing an elevated experience to the Cedar Rapids area. Yes the prices were higher but deservedly so. A restaurant deserves to make money when they make great food.

Also, house margaritas are bomb.

Can’t wait to make this a go to for the family!
