Midtown Reserve

Tom and I went for a postponed Valentines dinner. We left there fully satisfied and happy. Our service was outstanding and the food was incredible. There was a nice size crowd in there and a table of folks that were having great fun.We sat by another couple that we had a great conversation with and got to know. There were several couples in there that were first timers and they all seemed to enjoy their food. We had extra attention by Megan and Gabby which we really appreciated. This was our first time there and we will be back. I thought the prices were on target for the quality and quantity of food we received. The presentation of food was A+++

Once you get past the obscure front entrance, Midtown Reserve could be a hidden little gem. Staff was welcoming but not very knowledgable about the menu. Service was prompt. My steak was seasoned well and cooked to perfection! Entrees and sides are priced separately as one would expect with fine dining. Cocktails from the bar were hit or miss. The bartender forgot to add Cointreau to my cosmopolitan…what a disappointment. A small, but fairly nice wine selection, except the wine storage is not temperature controlled. We brought a special bottle from our cellar and normally do not mind paying corkage, but the glasses were cloudy with a detergent residue and not wiped clean. The server decanted our wine but never served us. The only reservation times available for a Saturday evening were 5PM and 8PM so we chose 5. Only 1 other 2 top was in our dining area and a 4 top on the other side of the restaurant. We were there 1.5 hours and no one else came in. This was our 2nd visit since November and they clearly have some things to work on, but will try them again.

Very classy but limited seating. The sever was very knowledgeable about the menu. The food was unbelievable! Only thing to know is that your entrees are priced separately from your sides. Very expensive but well worth the money!!

I've been all over country for the purpose of eating. This place is the best meal I've ever had. The crab stuffed mushrooms were amazing. Steak is phenomenal.

We had very good food as well as service at Midtown Reserve. Steaks were hot and the quality of beef was parallel to what you would find in a big city. Cocktails were spot on and a great wine list was appreciated. The banana split to end the night was fabulous. We will definitely be back. So nice to see a restaurant of this caliber in Cedar Rapids!!
