Very polite service, enjoyable atmosphere, decent seating options.
Food is well prepared and delicious.
Menu selection is well made and pricing is decent.

Pickup section tends to be congested with patrons waiting for food, please do not stand here as they will call your number over the PA system and you may be requested to move during heavy operation hours as to not block other patrons.

Lemon cake tends to sell out very fast.
I am glad yo see one much closer to home and plan to visit with regular frequency❤

The Portillo’s gods have heard our prayers- FINALLY a Portillo’s in Iowa!!! If you are new here, order at the line at the end of the building and then wait for your slice of heaven to be served. To me, there’s only one way to do Portillo’s- get that hot beef sandwich, with hot and sweet peppers on it, get it dry-with gravy on the side; along with a Chicago dog and a chocolate cake shake. This will be followed by a food coma nap, and a wave of euphoria of happiness. The strawberry shortcake is delicious too. Same with the cheese fries. Seeing a theme here? Amazing customer service and all around happy vibes. Watching the kitchen is like seeing the finest and most efficiently well-oiled machine you’ve ever seen. It will be busy. It will be worth the wait. Stop reading this and go experience it for yourself!

I have a friend that may have built this up too much. I was expecting out-of-this-world amazing, but it was just an average chili dog. I've actually made better at home. However, my wife really enjoyed her burger and I must say that it was good.
The other negative was how long we waited. They never called our number and I finally asked them what happened to our order when multiple people after us came and went. They were prompt about pulling it together, but then the food was like warm at best and the chili dog was made wrong. I asked them to remake the chili dog correctly, which they promptly did, and then at least it was warm.
I still gave 3 stars because everyone was kind and courteous despite the craziness going on.
I will try it again and change my review if it's better, but the first experience wasn't great.

Super good. Service was pretty fast considering how busy they are. Tons of staff which all seemed friendly. Way bigger on the inside than I expected fast food but regular restaurant size. Has a nice retro diner theme kind of like steak and shake or maid rite so it feels very local in that sense. Definitely worth a try!
