Hickory Park

Hickory Park is a great spot with friendly, on-point service staff, efficient seating, and tasty barbecue. The food is everything you could ask of a barbecue joint, plus it's pretty cheap! They've also got an array of old-fashioned sundaes, shakes, malts, and other desserts.

We had an excellent experience tonight! We were in celebrating my 94 year old mom’s birthday- she has Dementia and all she wanted was to go out to eat for her birthday, which is a real treat to her. Between the food and great service, I will be back. I had mentioned to the server I believe her name was Emerson- I’m not sure I mentioned my mom has Dimentia and was quick to anger has a heads up- however I have never seen my mom treated so greatly and cared for- the server was very sweet.
Food was excellent, brought out in a timely manner, the servers came and also sang to my Mom- which I appreciated greatly!

We love Hickory Park and have loved it for years. Menu has a good variety, prices are very fair - good value, and the portions are plentiful. And you have to save room for dessert! You'll see this when you sit down and see the ice cream menu printed on the placemats. It may look busy when you pull up, but don't skip as the dinning room is huge and they are always prepared to serve. If there is a wait for a table, it's usually not too bad and it's definitely worth it if you do.

In town for All State, we settled on this location due to its advertised home owner and large seating capacity. We were very pleased from start to finish having been greeted and seated promptly. Service was quick , prices fair and food was delicious. The candy bar at the end was a fun experience for the kids! Highly recommend this location!

I always enjoy my visits here. The smoked meats, sides & deserts are really delicious. So delicious that it's famous all over Central Iowa. Though I am next door to the restaurant, I can smell & taste why people over an hour drive detour their commute just to eat here.
