Subway

The location is in a prime spot, easy to get to from both "downtown" Kalona and the highway.
Inside is bright and reasonably clean.

The staff seems overworked, one brash coworker running between the bread/meat/cheese section and the register, one very tired looking employee in the kitchen area and one tired, but cheerful woman was on the toppings/sauce section.

My impression is that they definitely could use one more person behind the counter during prime lunch time to make it easier on all, in turn they'd feel better and it would show.

The sandwiches were good, the lettuce crisp and toasted perfectly.

Great staff and good food.

This is a new subway. Convenient location, clean environment. A bit understaffed when I was there

Apparently this is the only Subway that not only doesn't let customers use a 32 ounce thermos for a paid large drink they will also include a snarky "we don't allow that here" If I wasn't in a rush to get to where I was going I would have cancelled my seafood combo order on the spot. Definitely will not come back.
