“My bf and I went here for dinner last night and the food was so so good! I got supreme nachos and he got the birria plate. The salsa's we tried were all very good! Our waiter was very nice as well. The establishment was super clean, no complaints whatsoever 🙂 If you haven't tried this restaurant you definitely should!! We'll be back next week!”

“The place is clean and the staff is quite friendly. This was a pleasant experience, and the variety of cookies was adequate. I am the human version of Cookie Monster, and I absolutely love cookies, and if you know me... you know this! Dirty Dough was suggested by a dear companion who is well aware of my cookie affection. We selected the half dirty dozen so we could try a variety of the current offerings. First up is the Chocolate chip which is my standard "go-to" and this was perhaps our least favorite of the batch. The flavor was somewhat floury tasting, however being fresh they were warm, soft and nicely gooey. Our favorite was the orange cream and something of a pleasant surprise for a cookie. Overall I feel we didn't receive the best value for "gourmet cookies" but we didn't feel completely cheated either.”

“Our wedding cake was absolutely perfect! We had it delivered pretty far outside of Lawrence and it was still in perfect condition and on time. We left flowers for the delivery team to decorate with and as you can see from the picture they know what they’re doing. The cake tasted and looked amazing all thanks to the McClain’s team! We can’t thank them enough!!”

“The plain and simple used to be made with sliced English muffin bread and toasted to perfection. The English muffin bread was sweet and firm. Today it was made with an oversized wheat bread that was floppy. The floppy semi-toasted wheat bread with whole grain mouth feel is very different than the English muffin and has totally changed what made this sandwich great. The whole wheat taste dominates this sandwich. Bring back balance to the breakfast sandwich. Bring back the English muffin bread! Edit: the new sandwich could be called the Grain and Simple”

“Super good bakery items. The cinnamon donut (which is more the consistency of a coffee cake) is fabulous, as is the ginger cream pie. I’m confident that other things would be just as delicious. The coffee, on the other hand, was less impressive. The espresso isn’t bad, but there’s not much complexity to it, truth be told. Or, maybe it just seems weak? (I’m an experienced coffee connoisseur but horrible at describing tastes.) The pour over I selected (a Nicaraguan) was likewise OK – not spectacular. But the real issue with the coffee was the unbelievable amount of time that it took. Yes, when I went it was crowded... like, crazy busy. But still, I’m not exaggerating when I say the two drinks took about 10-15 minutes (felt like 15+), which is just too dang long to be waiting for a cup of coffee. Anyway, I’d be happy to give them another chance because the baked goods are so yummy, and hopefully the extremely slow drinks were an anomaly.”

Cost is high for my economic strata, so it's a special occasion experience. Levee Cafe and 1900 are my go to joints for daytime eats.”
