“Well today I went here with my daughter for breakfast on our way home for the weekend from her dorms in KC. As much as I have driven between Meriden and KC; not once in my 43 years had I been in downtown Tonganoxie. Glad that Google maps lead me there for chicken fried steak and eggs! The coffee was smooth and "nutty" like good Ole Grandma made. We both ordered the 2 egg, hash browns, chicken fried steak, and toast. I was not disappointed by the large thin and tender steak. Plenty of gravy without being smothered and a waitress that was full of energy and smiles as she did regular rounds to keep coffee cups full. The decor was consummate Small Town Pride. The wall were covered in pictures of local residents as well as a deep and long Kansas sport history. I'll be back soon to check out their dinner fare. BTW they had a "basco" sauce that I hadn't tried before and I really liked the salty milder taste.”

“Somewhat of a drive for me, but worth it. An extensive but interesting menu. We went there to celebrate Father's Day. We reserved a room which we shared with another family, but there was enough distancing. I had the Enchiladas Monterrey. The side of rice and refried beans were excellent as we're the enchiladas. Topped it off with flan. I highly recommend everything. Our server, and I'm sorry I didn't get his name, was very friendly and patient.”

“I have always had a good meal here until recently. I ordered the taco salad and it was the worst taco salad I have ever had. It was literally iceberg lettuce, ground beef, and a paltry amount of shredded cheese sprinkled on top. I know this is Leavenworth so I'm not really expecting Avocado on my taco salad but no onions, tomatoes, sour cream, or anything else? The ground beef wasn't even seasoned with taco seasoning - just plain ground beef. Additionally they have draft beer listed on the menu and draft beer taps behind the bar. I ask for a Bud Light and am told it doesn't work. I ask for a Miller Lite and am told it might work but in the end it doesn't. I'm told the equipment is old and doesn't work anymore. Well hello, if it doesn't work then why don't you take it off the menu and take down the taps? Guess what, one of the ladies working goes in back and suggests to who I assume is the owner that they take out the taps. When they come back I hear them say "He said he isn't going to take them out." That's great service - have something on your menu that you know isn't available.”

“Our server, Jennie, was really on her A-game. Service was fast, the orders were accurate, and she checked up with us often. We really liked our food, too. There was plenty of variety on the menu, and our food was fresh and cooked well. There were a couple large groups that came in ahead of us, but everybody was seated and served quickly. We'll be back!”
