Fabulous dinner @jarochokc last night. The fried fish with the garlic sauce is always my favorite, but last the lobster may have won! Also when you go you have to get at least one ceviche. The octopus is our go to.
They were packed last night so make a reservation for weekend night.
Place is not fancy but so worth it for the quality seafood.
Mexican restaurants are everywhere but an authentic Mexican Seafood Restaurant is hard to find. I am glad to be able to find one in Kansas City.
Jarocho is just located minutes from downtown in a "small Mexico" neighborhood. The restaurant is graced by some beautiful sea creatures theme murals (see my pictures), you can't miss it.
We tried a few dishes: Scallops Ceviche - very refreshing, the red onions really bring the dish alive. Oysters on the shelves are on the small side but it's still very tasty. But I wish they are more meaty though. Half a dozen for 2 people aren't enough. Stuffed Trout is also a very good dish, the fillet is very crispy on the outside and the mixings are very well matched. Overall, the dishes are all on the light seasoning side which gives a homemade feel to it. It might not be suitable for everyone but you definitely don't have to worry about intakes too much sodium.
Lastly, the house margarita was on special that day which is a good plus.
We are blessed in Kansas City with many great Mexican restaurants but I recently discovered a great place, Jarocho.
We were looking for a new Mexican restaurant and we discovered so much more.
The place is typical and modest in appearance but immaculately clean and bright, with kitchen in full view.
This is a seafood restaurant and it is delightful and fresh.
This is five star food, in a three star building, in a two star neighborhood.

The corn on the cob is so good! The Habanero sauce is amazing too. First time trying some of the seafood.
