Every time we get to Olive Hill, (about 4 times a year) Smokey Valley Truck Stop is our destination. Good solid basic home cooked meals. Hamburgers are good, although I usually go for the Catfish, Turnip Greens, Soup Beans and Cornbread. Yah, it's that kind of place. We've never been disappointed, the place isn't real pretty, in fact it's pretty basic. But the hospitality is excellent, the Pies for Dessert are as good as you will find anywhere, and the food reasonably priced and worth what you pay. :-).
Went above and beyond to prevent cross contamination of food due to allergies. Was very impressed with staff and excellent service! The food was Excellent!! Would Highly Recommend!!
Well if you want non-smoking do to cracker barrel. First off they don't allow eighteen wheelers little less even if we're bobtail. We weigh less than some class a motor homes. I understand a 2 month old baby, but this is Kentucky where the people can do what they want. Remember not everybody lives in a nanny star these people choose what they want to do. Get over it.
We were traveling nearby, hungry, and looking for something we couldn't get at home. I found the Smokey Valley TS here, and despite reading the negative reviews, we decided to give it a shot. We honestly have no idea what the negative reviewers were taking about! We were greeted upon entry, received no sideways glances, were promptly served, all meals were excellent, and even though we were too stuffed to indulge in actual dessert, it was offered. Yes, smoking is allowed inside, though only one person actually smoked, and it was across the room. We're non smokers but still couldn't smell it, nor did the place reek of smoke. I just went in understanding that it is allowed, and was still pleasantly surprised. Yes, we also received the check when we were served our meals, but that is common in lots of places, particularly in small communities. It wouldn't have occurred to me to be offended by that, so it seems to me that the naysayers are probably big city types who expect royal treatment. Welcome to the country. Try enjoying the surroundings and appreciating what is special about places instead of comparing it to home.
This was a great plays to get a burger. I came here in the middle of the night, and my dad saw this place on TV. And There were pictures of the guy on food network. So this is a pretty goo place to go. One of the people is right. Locals do get the attention, they give the bill early, and they smoke like hell.
