Waffle House

This is a great stop for quick, simple and cheap food. The place was clean and the service was quick and super friendly. We didn't expect much after reading some of these reviews but our server was great and we enjoyed the food.

Finally! Our server (Beth) was great! I love breakfast, any time of day. Waffle house is my favorite place to eat, hands down! But last night was the first time I've been asked if I want regular or dark roast coffee. Ever. She did her job well and with a smile, and held good conversation with my uncle and I. The cook (I didn't catch her name) did our order perfectly and also held good conversation with us. Absolutely no complaints about our visit on 4/29/19 in Dry Ridge, Ky!

This visit to Waffle House was different from most others. The waitresses didn't seem to have the spark that most WH waitstaff have, and they didn't seem to be having fun. Maybe someone had just received bad news. Everyone was just plodding along.

The food was pretty much the same, but the human aspect, the bit of theater that Waffle House usually has, wasn't here this trip.

Can someone make a fair evaluation if you actually didn't eat there? Our family saw numerous Waffle House restaurants as we recently navigated the US interstates from Canada to Florida. Along the way, we saw the Waffle House signs and figured we should try one at least once on the trip. Unfortunately, upon arrival, seeing how filthy the dining area and washroom were, we dashed before our server could come back to take our orders. Greasy and gross would be understatements. Did we feel good about leaving in such a manner? Not at all. Do I feel a bit sorry for our server who was just trying to do her job? Of course. So why 3 stars an not a 1 star rating? Because maybe the food would have been the best ever! I guess we'll never know... because we are never going to be foolish enough to return to Waffle House.

I've never got a bad Waffle House. I also never had a bad experience there. 5+ stars for all wait person in every Waffle House I've been in and I've been in a lot. These are some of the happiest wait person's I've seen. They must love their job or there faking it until making it gets an A+. Tip them well.
