Corner Cafe

Excellent dinner last night. I had the chicken penne pasta my husband had a seafood linguine dish.

A group of 5 shared a tasty lunch here and everyone loved their food. We definitely need to go for dinner to try their full menu (pizza, pasta and other great varied items). Prices are fair, portions are generous (think sharing salads, or take half home).

Corner Cafe is a landmark of Lyndon. The restaurant brings back a lot of memories as a child from the 1990s. The food is great and the service is excellent. The menu has a wide range of options for all different people. I have never had a bad meal at Corner Cafe.

Although the food is above par, it is expensive for what you get. Recently, I ordered a grilled tuna sandwich which does NOT come with sides. A side salad was almost $6.00. I did not order a beverage. My bill before gratuity was over $18.00. The tuna was good but a very small piece on a very large bun. We will not be going back as there are other local places nearby with a better bang for the buck. A better piece of tuna, with two sides at two close by venues will be my choice. Corner cafe needs new decor and the location isn't very attractive.

The food was okay, service okay, prices okay. But the clientele at the bar at closing time was beyond rude! So many nasty looks and comments as we were leaving. I guess they were friends or regulars there to watch a ball game, and we were cramping their fun. The bartender never batted an eye at their antics. We won't be back.

I was there escorting three seniors, all in their 80's, looking for a decent meal and place to chat. They had all graduated high school together, and wanted to catch up a little. One was a veteran. One the wife of a retired special agent. One the wife of a veteran, and my mother. The place closed at 9pm. We left at ten after. The owner(?) manager(?) didn't seem to mind. But as we passed the bar to go out the door, three women glared at us, one said "About time!" and as the door was closing behind us there was laughter and "Jesus, I thought they'd never leave!"

Absolutely uncalled for, and just so disrespectful. They served our country, supported as their spouses served, have seen more, done more, suffered more than you can ever imagine, and you stoop that low. They're old, but not deaf. They heard you. Shame on you. Just shame.
