Simply amazing as always! The chili is amazing and the staff is very hospitable. There is chili, hot dogs, chili dogs, grilled cheese, salads, loaded chili fries and the list goes on and on. Very tasty and great hours. Try it out when you're in the neighborhood.
Chilli was pretty good. Thick. Reminded me of the chili my mom used to make minus the noodles. Definitely will be back. The restaurant was Nice and clean staff was friendly. The prices are fair on the pockets considering being downtown.
A place that sells general American food always has to be careful. It may be hard to mess up a burger or a hot dog and the like, but it's just as hard to make them absolutely great. The Chili Bowl doesn't have to worry about this in the least. Their namesake food, chili, is delicious. All the proportions are just right, and it's not too soupy or chunky. You can get it with onions, cheese, and spaghetti at your discretion and it's just as good as the plain chili. The hot dogs are always cooked thoroughly so they're plump and have a nice snap to the casing. The buns for the hot dogs are also covered in butter and grilled a bit to give it a nice taste to complement the hot dog itself. And just in general, the pricing and portion sizes are more than fair. A quart of chili that can feed you throughout the day will only run you 8 dollars, a large handmade burger with quality ingredients is only 5.50. It's not the cheapest deal around, but considering the quality of food and service, Old Louisville Chili Bowl easily stands out on its own.
