Joella's Hot Chicken St. Matthews

I the food is excellent. Anything hotter than spiked honey is a little too hot for me. Double check your order before leaving if you get carry out. I've been a few times and was missing an item on occasion.

Joella's has some of the best hot chicken around. Hands down. It's a casual atmosphere with some covered, outdoor seating, and they certainly deliver the goods when it comes to chicken and sides. Tip: when you get the chicken on a sandwich, especially with the garlic aioli, it tempers the heat, so you can go hotter than you think.

I love spicy chicken, but every now and then, some fire fried chicken to cover my super-spice level cravings. Joella's hits the spot on those days where I wanted to sweat out the pores on my face through the power of spice.

Be warned, tho, your tastebud might initially thank you, but you'll be paying for it the next day if you get their spiciest level chicken.

This has been the fastest food experience I've had in Louisville. Ordered the "fire in the hole" chicken tenders with waffles. Less than five minutes was spent waiting for the food. I still can't believe how fast the food came out - and it was hot and fresh. If spicy things aren't for you, DO NOT ORDER FIRE IN THE HOLE.

Since I like my heat, I thought this chicken was incredible. That, plus the waffles, plus the collared greens with bacon... Amazing. I wish I had more dipping sauces, as I only got the Bleu cheese.

This was one of the best meals I've had in Louisville.

Joella's chicken is delicious! I love their dipping sauces and their fries. The side dishes are wonderful, the cakes in the mugs are wonderful also! Their soda machine is very unique and I really like it. Sweet tea and lemonade are always on point! Would absolutely recommend.
