Umami Buffet

Servers were very nice! Food was good, enjoyed the atmosphere here and my family liked it too. Buffets are often hit or miss. I know how hard these people work, and I think they did a great job on their opening week. Unfortunately the hibachi grill wasn't ready, but they said they would get it running soon. Things can be improved but there is potential.

Food was decent - great variety, but still just typical Chinese buffet food. Plates weren't very clean, and the server was eager enough to clear empty plates from the table to take my silverware off a plate that still had food on it and just lay the fork and spoon directly on the table.
Also, they stand and watch over customers like vultures waiting for an animal to take its last breath.
Long story short, Umami is off to an impressive start; they have a wide variety of delicious food, and they have the potential for a great future. If they address staff techniques and stop passing dirty plates off as clean plates, they can become a go-to destination.

I will say the food was pretty good. But I will not be back till I know some things are fixed. it was over 80deg in the building. With in minutes of being there I was sweating very bad. The hibachi was not open and the ice cream was out of order.

Their second day of business. The food tasted good but absolutely everything was cold.

It's a shame that they're in the same parking lot as hibachi Buffet. They should have opened much further south. Maybe as far as the Gene Snyder freeway. There's no Chinese buffet down there.
