The food and service here is really good, but get there early. It's very popular. The only issue that we had was when the vent on the grill went out and smoked up three joint. (No photos)

(See my update/warning about their hamburger steak at the end of this review)

The food and service are as good as any location, though they're still newly open so there are still hiccups. But honestly, I think that was more due to how busy they were and considering that everything was pretty great. And they brought back our favorite - the Fried Seafood Platter!

Now, their sweet tea is some kind of mix according to our server. I had to ask since what he brought me was orange, not the deep brown hue of tea. That they can't bother to brew actual sweet tea while every fast food joint around can tells me they just don't care. This was a HUGE disappointment. If I want a cheap iced tea mix with lemon I can buy that at Walmart, I'm not paying $3 for what amounts to Kool Ade. CHANGE THAT NOW.

One other thing - the place isn't very good at absorbing noise so when it's crowded it's also very loud. I'm talking loud enough for our server to hear me sometimes and I him. The hard concrete floors and similarly hard, planar walls make good surfaces for sound to bounce off of instead of absorbing it to keep noise levels down. If they can work on the noise levels things would be much nicer when it's busy, but it's still worth the trip for the food.

If you like onion rings do yourself a favor and order them as an appetizer. You'll get this huge tower of beautiful hand made rings that are near perfect.

A little update: I tried their hamburger steak for the first time and will never order it again. The steak itself is high quality meat, but it's smothered in an overabundance of an overly-thickened "gravy" that tastes like it came out of a jar. It's not good at all and is overly salty. The only way I'd ever consider the hamburger steak again is if they either completely revamp that horrid gravy or simply serve it with no gravy. The hamburger, mashed potatoes, and veggies were all good, but the gravy ruined everything.

Excellent food - great quality and consistency. Desiree was our server and she was seaux kind and helpful. We had stuffed crab, twice baked potato, onion rings, hush puppies, shrimp salad, catfish and shrimp and mirliton soup. I live 1300 miles away and this was the perfect taste of home. I will be dreaming of that shrimp and mirliton soup. Highly recommend. Ask for Desiree!

This new location of Mike Anderson's (formerly Sammy's) is a welcome addition to the seafood restaurant community in Prairieville. The food continues to be good as it is in the other locations. Always a solid choice for seafood dining when in the Prairieville/Baton Rouge area. A solid 4.3 out of 5 overall! 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
