The BEST po boy I have ever eaten!! Locals were telling me to try the Darrell Special with spicy Mayo and and shrimp. Most importantly, gravy on the side(you will thank me later). The sandwich had roast beef, Turkey, ham, and cheese. I had the large and I am regretting it lol. Should have stuck with the small but live and learn. This is a place that is worth a visit.

A little late making this review. Ate here three years ago & came across these images today in my Facebook memories. I had one of the best shrimp poorboy’s I have ever eaten! Since, I have wanted another one. So when the opportunity arose to order one at various other places during my travels, I have. Unfortunately, NONE have matched Darrell’s! I want to go back!!! Wish there was one near me in TX!!!! Please try one if you enjoy jalapeños like I love, and you won’t be disappointed! Note, I hate Mayo, but their Mayo sauce is great!

We were on a road trip, and we stopped here randomly. The place looked a bit too local for me, and didn't have too many choices, just few sandwiches. I got the surf and turf with sauce on the side, I highly recommend doing that or it will be too messy. The sandwich was AMAZING. Once I ate the food I was more relaxed. My wife got the bbq sandwich, it wasn't that great. I would eat here again.

When you come to Lake Charles, Darrell’s is the first spot you visit, period. Amazing poboys, nice casual atmosphere and quality wait staff make for a great experience. The BBQ Beef poboy is my go-to order as the Mayo/mustard/cheese/BBQ sauce mixture is heavenly and the bread is so buttery and flaky. Always hit Darrell’s first!

This place was good but I sat at the bar and the bartender did not care about serving me at all. It made me feel like he would spit in my food just because. I enjoyed the food but did not feel welcomed. Bartender was taking my order and the one of his buddies came up and he made me wait while they talked about nothing important. Disappointed because I was told this place was great.
