Driving home, I saw a wondrous and amazing sight as the voices of angels sang…well actually it was just a sign advertising all day happy hour but still! Service by the host was amazing, the waitress maybe had less energy but no big complaints.
Now let’s turn to the business of taste buds. The beef empanada was crisp and full of delicious stuffing. The chicken maaaaaan the chicken would have earned this restaurant 4.5 stars by itself even if the restaurant was run by Oscar the Grouch in his trash can! The roasted chicken was succulent and full of flavor and the ají sauces were simply delicious. Make sure to ask for spicier if you need to like any good ethnic restaurant they have that secret sauce in their secret sauce they can give in addition to the included ones. The ceviche was delicious and the fish was cobia…so good quality and very buttery. I was at first suspicious of the corn nuts and yams as sometimes they could be used to reduce the amount of fish but the portions were good and the sides were delicious, giving complimentary flavors and crunchy textures to the fish so I can’t be mad at all. The alcoholic drinks are a must try…the passion fruit (maracuya) pisco sour was one of the top drinks I’ve tried in BTR…unfortunately on the nonalcoholic side the chicha morada seemed bottled and a little less flavorful than others I’ve tried. Overall Brasas was well worth the meal and a recommend from me!

I’m a beyond excited about having a Peruvian restaurant in Baton Rouge! We ordered the empanadas and they were amazing. If you enjoy spicy sauces, ask for the pepper sauce to dip your empanadas in. Yum!! We loved everything about our experience at this restaurant from the service, food and atmosphere. We will be back and look forward to trying more dishes.

The inside of the restaurant is tasteful, colorful, and whimsical. You almost feel as though you've actually been transported to Peru. There's an adorable photo op with mountains and a large stuffed alpaca for the kids..

Most of the sauce offering seem to be mayo based. I'm not a fan, but my dinner guest found them enjoyable. The chicken was not as exciting as I expected. I thought there would be more of a char or coal smoke flavor to the chicken, but it mostly just tasted of chili powder, which I personally didn't enjoy. The sauces apparently compliment the chicken very well, according to my dinner guest. The plantains were exactly what I expected. Nothing extra, perfect in their simplicity. I will caution if you're not a fan of raw onion to speak up. I was delighted by the aroma and the amount of raw onion personally, but I can see where someone who isn't a big fan would have been put off by it.

I did give service 4 stars. They were quick and polite but our waitress didn't refill drinks and we had to flag someone else down for silverware.

Over all, very clean and the food and atmosphere are nice. Would definitely recommend especially if you enjoy strong chili flavor.

Brasas Peru was absolutely phenomenal in flavor and in vibe. I will say that while the service was wonderfully attentive, they did miss a few important things such as utensils and explaining certain parts of the dish such as the sauces. It's a very minor complaint, though. All in all, if you have not been here, it is truly a phenomenal and sensational experience!

I got the lomo saltado, fish cebiche, quarter chicken with plantains and yucca fritas, and papa a la huancaina. It was so good that I’ve come back a few times and also tried the beef empanadas, lomo a lo probre, and arroz chaufa. I’ve loved everything except the papa a la huancaina which the server recommended. As of everything else, 10/10 love it.
