This is my new favorite local restaurant in Baton Rouge. The BEST service and food. My first time at this restaurant was for Easter and it felt like I was spending it with family. HIGHLY RECOMMEND
Absolutely FABULOUS! They were actually closed to do a catering event for the Super Bowl but served us anyway!! It was absolutely WONDERFUL! I had the Mud Bugs (Crawfish) and my husband had the ribs. They were fantastic also. Sorry, I forgot to take a pic of the ribs because I couldn't wait to dig in to my Mud Bugs. Lol...
Best meal in Baton Rouge! We walked in and Von invited us back to the area he was sitting and totally welcomed us in and gave us extra special attention. We started with the crab cakes - Mmm Mmmm, then got the seafood platter with catfish, shrimp and oyster - the breading was light and tasted oh so good. We couldn't decide between the homemade cocktail sauce or tartar sauce as again both were excellent! The sides yams (made with local cane syrup) were like having a nutritious desert first and the mustard greens had just a hint of spice and were so flavorful. We also had shrimp etouffee (the Best of our 2 week trip in Louisiana). We were finished off and rolled out the door after the home made peach cobbler. Amazing meal and conversation!
Vaughn and server provided excellent customer service & great conversation. Talked about sports and even told us how to get to diffrent area attractions in the area. HUGE portions, so definitely was a great value! Food was delicious, looks like they may offer live music. We had the 3 meat combo w/fries & baked beans. Fried Shrimp Platter w/mac n cheese (not made w/elbow noodles) & fries. Seafood Combo w/fried oysters, cabbage, & dirty rice.
I have nothing but good things to say about this place. The owner is nice, cooks the food himself, and is not shy about getting to know his guests. I know I was the only person in the place he didn't know. The ribs were the best I've had in a very long time. No BBQ sauce needed. The ribs seem to have been seasoned with a rub and the flavor was great. The catfish was no less satisfying. The mustard greens alone are worth coming back for!!! If you drive through Baton Rouge, you have to pull up, take a seat, loosen your belt, and dig in because this place is good. Don't be in a hurry, good food should never be rushed.
