I had heard it was good, and it was. Here, you order dim sum off the menu instead of off a cart. You can also order dishes at the same time. We had a nice selection of dumplings from the dim sum part of the menu, along with beef and broccoli and a fried rice. It was all good. You can get broccoli or gai lan with any "broccoli" dish, so you can pick which one you want.
We were hoping this place would outdo their dim sum competitor so we wouldn't have to travel far anymore. I've read other bad reviews and was a little hesitant trying it out. However, it wasn't too bad.
The restaurant wasn't too packed when we came but we still stood at the door for a few minutes without being acknowledged before I decided to go straight to the counter to ask if it was a seat yourself or what kind of deal. It was a wait to be seated ordeal, but of course, the employees only decided to glance quickly at us and carried on. Either way, we sat and quickly ordered.
They serve more than just dim sum. There's also Chinese food and authentic Chinese specials on the board. I noticed some of the Vietnamese translations of the items were wrong, too, but I'm guessing they used Google Translate. You'll still be able to navigate the menu, though, as some do have pictures. They also have large tables with a lazy Susan to have a family style meal. The menu is large enough to have options for everyone.
Everything is made to order. There are no push carts for dim sum, so be prepared for a slightly longer wait time. Overall, the food was ok, mediocre. It's close enough to get you through your dim sum cravings if you live in the Metairie or Kenner area.
So happy there’s a dim sum spot in Kenner! I went twice, and every time is when they open up for the day. Each time I arrived, they always have a decent amount of people already eating! That’s when you know the place is good...when there’s at least 3-5 tables full of people when the restaurant only opened up for 5 minutes!! The servers are so nice and very respectful. They smile and are patient while you decide what to order. Their menu is pretty big and offers lots of selections. I really love their roast pork buns, shumai, and Chinese broccoli. Do not get their wonton soup. Tasted mediocre like Campbell’s chicken noodle soup, not like the traditional Asian wonton soup (nothing against Campbell’s - it’s just not what I expected when I order from an Asian restaurant). Overall, this is a pretty nice spot to eat some dim sum if you’re on this side of town.
Yummy indeed! Couldn’t even snap a photo before we had devoured a good amount of the delicious dim sum dishes we ordered. Really enjoyed the radish cakes, sticky rice, rice noodles. Very good. We don’t have many places like this in New Orleans so I was very happy to have really enjoyed this meal.
We came in for dinner looking for Chinese but was surprised that they offered dim sum! And in Kenner! So we order nothing but dim sum. All of it was delicious and freshly cooked to order, no carts here. We will definitely be coming back.
