Wonderful experience learning about the area and the different groups of people who combined to make Acadiana unique. Loved talking with each staff member sharing their knowledge and dressed in period costumes. Sitting Bear, Ms Thibadeaux, and the school master were all friendly and welcomed questions. Person in the gift shop was also a wealth of info with many area recommendations. Also highly recommend the restaurant!!!

This is the perfect place to learn about Cajun history. See the architecture of their homes, the artifacts of daily life, and speak to historians about the lifestyle.

    Highly recommend stopping in.

this is definitive the best village to visit! inside the village the team members will give you so many information about the tools, the history and the habits then! We had the chance to see a cajun singer! Amazing experience! All of this make the visit so interesting and enjoyable

What an amazing spot! I have been wanting to come for quite some time now, but haven't had the time. I am so glad I did. Make sure you give yourself a few hours to explore everything as there is just so much to see. There are handicap ramps to most everything. The water life exhibit was closed when I went, but that's ok. I look forward to coming back with friends. All of the employees were friendly and helpful. There were people at most of the spots to explain what was going on. This was just great and well worth the time to stop in and look around.

It was a good educational site to visit. We loved the music, getting to see it live was great. There was only two living history interpreters when we visited on the weekend, but they we both good. The kids really liked pulling the ferry across the water! The restaurant was a bit of a let down. It was really busy when we arrived and they told us it would take longer than normal due to staffing issues, which we understand. After the place cleared out though, the service was still weak even though there was very few people in the restaurant. The long time spent at the restaurant took away from our time exploring the place. Food was good, prices were on the high side at around $15 per person on our ticket. All and all it was worth checking out. Next time I would probably pack my lunch and plan to also visit the National Historic site that is next door. If it's the only living history site you have been to it might be better too. We have visited quite a few and know that having more interpretation actors is possible.
