Dong Phuong Bakery & Restaurant

Finally got my hands on one of their famous king cakes. I got mine at bouree restaurant, which opens at 11 am so it’s nice for all the ppl who don’t make it to the other stores which open at 8 am. I’m from out of town.
I recommend going to one of their official resale locations. You’ll have better luck getting one. The actual bakery sells out very quickly. I got the cream cheese. I do have to say although it was very delicious it did seem to be overrated, maybe I should’ve gotten the traditional cinnamon as my first time trying, I hear that one is the best out of the flavors. The cream cheese icing on top is very light and airy, almost a whipped consistency, the filling is mainly in the middle, the outer edges don’t have any filling so it’s not overly stuffed which is nice. The dough is very soft! It’s a nice size too, could feed a decent sized party easily. I would definitely try it again next time I get the chance !

Went for the king cakes but will be back for the Banh Mi’s! I loved this spot! I was not expecting as many delicious take out goodies!
Best king cake I’ve ever had so far (almond crème)

Arrived around 730am on a Thursday morning to purchase a king cake. Had been advised from some local friends that Dong Phuongs cakes were the best. About 30 people in line in front of me, we stood there until 8am when they opened the garage door to sell 6 different kinds of King Cakes. 3 was the limit, so I bought 3. Why not! Have to say the Creme Cheese and Strawberry were really good but my favorite was the cinnamon. Highly recommend!

I love this bakery. Located in New Orleans East it’s legendary for its Po-Boy Bread and tasty tasty King Cakes. The service is so friendly too.

We had boba drinks, pho, korean short ribs, rice noodles, and so many bakery items. You will not go wrong with anything you chose!
