The food here was excellent and the service was very good. Has a charming atmosphere and think any visitors new to the area should definitely give it a try. I've been told that going in the evening is best as they are really busy during lunch time.
Everybody's been saying it's a great place to eat and yes it was!!!
The Service started out Fast as it was beginning of Lunch crowds, but it slowly got real slow. Waitress took drink order but took long time to bring to table..Ordered off Lunch Menu hoping for Quick lunch...not the case-- ordered an Appetizer Crab cake w/ sauce...10min later crabcake arrived w no sauce. Had to ask for sauce, that took too long. Drinks came, Waitress Never returned to refill. By this time people poured in, standing outside, but some people would slowly drift into dinning room an stand by your table to watch & wait for you to finish ,so they can get your table--they even started conversations, I guess to hurry you along..I have NEVER been to establishment that allowed people into your area watching you eat and some would come take chairs from your table and wait near you? Highly Rude & Inappropriate practice. The Lunch special came, it was tasty ,but luke WARM, must have been plated soon as lunch special but near cold upon reaching table...The portions were small, so thus too overpriced..1 Crabcake was as much as Daily LUNCH Plate specials... It seemed to be the TRENDY place as was crowded ,but it wasn't ALL THAT. Things coming out of kitchen took long as everyone was waiting for their orders.
Staff is welcoming, makes you feel that they want your business. We ordered the daily special which for Friday was Shrimp Creole over rice, spicy potato salad and fried trout tenderloin. We chose the bread pudding with praline rum sauce for dessert.
It was a rainy day and we drove 65 miles to get to this small town restaurant. The restaurant is housed in an ancient 2 story building that needed to be repainted 40 years ago. The parking lot what's full, the overflow parking lot was flooded so we had to wade through three inches of water. Entry is into the main dining room and bar. It was full. We were escorted to a series up smaller dining rooms that were decorated with fine art and crafts done by local citizens.
We recommend Nobiles Restaurant for everyone. We have only been there for lunch but we believe dinner must be just as good.
Enjoyable experience. Had the Monday lunch special, hamburger steak with mashed potatoes and gravy and green beans. Good but the hamburger steak was way too spicy (heatwise). I'm not a spicey heat wimp and I'm from the New Orleans area but hamburger steak does not need to be anywhere near this spicy. Everything else was fine. A delicious bread pudding finished off my meal...all for $12.75. Great value. Ice spent more at McDonald's for lunch. The ambiance is almost worth the trip. The restaurant is in a very old (circa 1894) two story building. Upon entering the smell of old country Louisiana wood hits your nostrils. It has a long bar and ten tables. Stop by and see this hidden gem yourself. You won't regret it.
