Hi-Ho is quite literally the best sandwich you can buy. I have been a Hi-Ho addict since I was a small child and my Dad would sit me at the counter telling me stories about when they used to go as kids.

The secret sauce is incredible, somewhere between a BBQ sauce and a gravy. The meat is saturated in the sauce, making this sandwich like a delicious sloppy Joe. The meat is sliced not chopped or pulled. They have two kinds, Beef or Pork. You can get your sandwich plain, add cheese, or dressed (mayo, lettuce, and tomato). My perfect sandwich is a pork dressed with cheese. I always top it off with Zapps BBQ chips and a Barqs in a bottle.

Don't be shy about the grilled cheese, hamburgers, or sauce buns. They are all fantastic as well.

Believe me, after your first Hi-Ho, you will be an addict.

Absolutely the BEST bbq sandwiches on the planet!! I’ve been coming here for bbq sandwiches for about 40 years... and I still stop in anytime I’m anywhere close to Hammond. If you’ve never had one... or two, your missin out!!

Their, "One-Of-A-Kind," BBQ sandwiches are really special. The sauce looks thin but is delicious. You can have it on pork or beef both equally good. They are messy to eat which is how BBQ should be! I have been eating these since childhood (I am 69) and they are still consistently good. There is a 2nd one in Ponchatoula, La. Go get hooked on these if you have never been. Highly recommended.

I’ve been coming here since Ms. Celeste greeted customers in the drive thru when I was a child! Those were definitely the days. HI-HO has been a staple in my family for decades. For those who don’t appreciate this establishment and think it’s “dingy”, well, that’s how it has always looked. Locals enjoy the character the building has to offer. It provides many people, including myself, with the comfort food they desired as a kid and a sense of nostalgia as well. As for the sauce, if you’re looking for the commercialized, sweet BBQ sauce, this isn’t the place for you. Their sauce is an Italian family recipe that seems to be tomato based with spices. 3 sauce buns, hot fries, and a bottled root beer ordered at a stand up counter. You just can’t get any better than that. Restaurants like this are few and far between these days which makes HI-HO even more special. Don’t hate on the sauce. Italians know good food, capiche?

Excellent place to eat. When we first walked in the staff was very friendly. We were in town for a travel ball game. The hamburgers were excellent. The drinks were bottled and cold. The fries were hot and fresh. The place was clean. I recommend it to anyone. The barbecue beef sandwhich had way too much sauce which made the bread soggy. Bit overall, I give it a 5.
