It's been 4- 4 1/2 years since I've been out to middendorf's but, it's still as great and consistant as always was! The staff were tops and very accommodating to my party of 7( my bday today ) food was absolutely delicious for all the 7 involved , best Bday EVER, all of my kids were present and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the evening together.it pleased me to see them with customers for the sake of normality and commerce in our stressed out world we live in , getting out for a change was profound for me especially the event and the company I was in and at my favorite place ! I'll never forget this bday , means the world to me, thanks kids!! I'm blessed !
We had an absolutely wonderful dinner. The fried shrimp and the fried fish are so lightly battered. And the service was exceptional. The place was extremely clean and everybody was social distancing.
there is no substitute for the meal that you get here. the thin-fried catfish is truly unique and the food is fast and hot. the turtle soup is divine, and the beer is frosty and cold. not a beer person? the mixologists are well trained and can fix your favorite cocktail. the desserts are quite tasty, in this book, the key lime is always delicious. the staff is friendly and welcoming. a Louisiana treasure.
We hadn't been in a while and took the opportunity of a trip to Hammond to visit. Although we have had the distinctive thin catfish before, we took this opportunity to have a great broiled flounder. It was excellent and almost too much to eat. I skimped on the fries and coleslaw to finish my fish. I started with shrimp & crab gumbo and my husband had the oyster stew. He said his stew was great. I found the gumbo had a little more tomato than I like but had lots of plump shrimp and a crab claw and a chunk of crab carcass. After I finished breaking up the crab with my knife & fork the waitress offered to get me a crab claw cracker. I'm including a pic of the iced tea glass because I've never heard of New Orleans Roast iced tea, before. It didn't have chicory in it.
