We went for lunch. We ordered a large pepperoni pizza, fettuccine Alfredo, and a chicken parmesan sandwich. It was all very good. The only criticism is that first the Alfredo was dinner, ten minutes later, the chicken parmesan sandwich was done and ten more minutes later the pizza was done. We'll definitely be back for another try!

To be clear an "Italian" in Maine is a sub with meat and cheese with sour pickles, tomatoes, black olives, green peppers, onions and oil. I've had them from a few places in Maine but this one is the best. The bread was super fresh from a bakery I'm assuming. When in Maine this is where I'll go.

They were friendly and when the order was not correct, they quickly remade my order and refunded the cost. Would be nice if some of the extra veggies that can be added wouldn't be so expensive. ($1 for extra salad olives or pickles)

Great food, if you want an authentic Italian sandwich this is a must have. Don't bother asking for delivery, something always goes wrong otherwise they would get 5 star

Next to the original location in Portland, this Amato's is the best! My family has been coming here for 25 years. The consistency of the quality has never fluctuated. Home of the Real Italian.... For sure! That Italian sandwich flavor that they have is so recognizable - nothing like it. Whenever I leave the country for a few months or more and I return yearning for a taste of home..... Yeah, you guessed it - a large Amato's Italian w/salt, pepper and oil tells every ounce of me that I'm home.
