First time trying Maples and I really enjoyed the everything bagel with veggie cream cheese. Iced americano was great as well. Plenty of parking and even though it was very busy I didn’t have to wait long at all for my order. Will definitely be back for more!
I found this place while on vacation and looking for breakfast options. People said the bagels were some of the best, so I went at opening time and got in line.
I picked up a few coffees, some everything and sweet rosemary bagels, a muffin, and a scone. Two bagels had cream cheese, one with bacon/scallion and one with lox.
I was underwhelmed, honestly. Everything seemed over baked. The bagels were so hard and chewy my jaw hurt. I couldn’t really taste the everything seasoning, and the rosemary bagels were too sweet with little to no salt. The bacon/scallion cream cheese was good, but there wasn’t much of it on my bagel. The lox was used quite sparingly and in small pieces mixed in, and didn’t seem to have any onions or capers one would normally expect with lox.
The coffee was good, made from a quality espresso machine.
Not bad, not great. I actually enjoyed a Tim Horton’s everything bagel with extra onion cream cheese more than Maple’s to be honest.
I do think there’s some real potential for goodness here with a few tweaks to baking times and ingredients, but from the looks of it people don’t care and they sell out anyway. I’m just not sure why. Maybe I stopped in on an off day.
My favorite bagels! Plus coconut cold brew, 5 stars right there! Excellent service always, even when the line is out the door. Would love to see your amazing olive cream cheese again!
You can see them make their baked goods so you can tell its from scratch and baked fresh daily. Get there early cause they sell out early. They only had english muffins and sourdough for sandwiches. Still great. You could taste the ham, the tang of the good Swiss and sourness if the pickles. The sandwiches were well balanced in flavor and obviously made with good quality ingredients. Staff is very welcoming. Prices are reasonable for the above average product/service you receive
By far the best bagel in Maine (and, I’m originally from NY)! Crunchy, toasty outside with chewy, yummy inside. There English muffins are also SO good. Okay variety of cream cheese and sandwich options (maybe one day they’ll have olive or sun dried tomato cc). Baked goods are usually really yummy, I’ve had a few misses but it happens with baked goods. Generally, so delicious and it’s a really fun and welcoming vib in there :)
