Brasserie LeBrun is a French restaurant to get dressed up for. Starting with the atmosphere, the walls are painted a dark blue with accents of white and exposed wood paneling. Bar chairs match these, blue and gold trim. The restaurant is spacious, and has interesting artwork to look at while you dine. Service was excellent even while the restaurant was busy, and my waiter was above-averagely friendly and attentive, suggesting both excellent drinks, and food. For dinner I started off with the salad with soft egg (unfortunately forgetting the name) which was garnished with potato croutons, tasting similar to small, cubed French fries, and delicious bacon pieces of the same size. I was deciding between the chicken and the duck, and my server recommended the duck breast, which did not disappoint. I’m sorry if I don’t remember all the names in French, but the duck was perfectly cooked, sliced and nestled alongside an assortment of cut green beans, as well as two other kinds of beans, garnished with both crumbled bacon, and pieces similar to those on the salad. While not drizzled over the perfectly seasoned duck, the whole dish is surrounded with a duck fat/ (foie gras) sauce, which is absolutely delicious even if you don’t typically enjoy it. With the meat being perfectly cut, I believe this was my favorite meal in Bar Harbor, on my trip to Maine; even if it didn’t include lobster. For dessert I enjoyed the Bitter Chocolate Cremeaux, which was two dollops of a pudding, almost mousse, surrounded with candied oranges and an orange sauce, topped with cake crumbs and crème fresh. Absolutely enjoyable with the atmosphere, service, and food.

Loved our dinner here! We were trying to sample restaurants that had more variety in their menus than the restaurants on Main Street that all seemed to have virtually the same menu. We were not disappointed! We sat at the bar and received amazing service. The food was also delicious. We had fresh oysters, lobster bouillabaisse and the steak frites. I would order the steak just a little more rare than you usually eat it, it’s a thinner cut, but still amazing!

Hostess seemed to be simultaneously surprised we were joining for our reservation and aggricated tahtvwe wanted to have a table to dine at.

The room is cavernous, the music only seems to emanate from the kitchen. The seating is awkward and we are sitting so close to our neighbors that we don't feel like we can have a conversation without whispering.

The menu is rather than with very few options, but if one of them is to your liking, they seem to be of high quality.

We opted for foie gras and oysters. The oysters were amazing. The foie gras...I'm not really sure what it was. It is served with dollops of lemon custard filling from a donut on a bed of blueberry pie filling with for literal crumbs of some kind of a poppy seed roll? It was not unpleasant, but tasted nothing like foie gras.

Cocktails were awesome. But if I were looking for a fine dining experience in bar harbor, I would continue looking.

Fantastic food, great flavours, beautifully presented. Service friendly, helpful and polite. Not cheap by any means by but if you're happy to splash the cash for a treat this is the place to go. Our only reservation was that there is a distinct lack of vegetables, we are used to UK restaurants where your meal usually comes with at least two fresh vegetables and you can also order additional sides eg green beans in garlic butter, tenderstem broccoli or spring greens. We would have liked to have had that option particularly as the chicken came just with pureed potatoes and a sprig of thyme. Where do you Americans get your daily fibre? 😂
We would definitely recommend. We had the beef short rib and the chicken, followed by creme brulee (salted caramel and hazelnut favours, yum) and the profiteroles which my husband raved over, loved the blueberries and lemon curd combo.

Shared a wonderful dinner with my husband here on their first night open to the public. Excellent offering of wine by the glass and bottle, thoughtful cocktails, and an A+ menu. In addition to excellent food, we enjoyed the warm and attentive service paired with a sophisticated but relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommend for a night out.
