Reading Room Restaurant

Amazing food, service, and ambiance. We overheard the waitress talking to our neighboring tables and everyone was celebrating either an anniversary or a recent engagement! Prices are on the higher side for the area but the quality makes it worth every penny.

Absolutely lovely. The Restaurant here, called The Reading Room is beautiful with the best view I've seen here. The grounds, the flowers, the lawn, gazebos, the harbor, the sailboats, just everything. The Restaurant is top notch. This is white table cloth with an exquisite atmosphere. They start with little unexpected goodies, to prepare the pallet. We started with lobster bisque. Then we had Maine lobster, of course, with garlic mashed potatoes, and green beans. My husband ordered the blueberry pie with a side of ice cream for dessert. Best we've ever had. Everything prepared beautifully. Piano music softly in the background. What more can you ask for?

Unbeatable location, classy ambience and superb fish/seafood dishes. We wanted to splurge on a special night in Bar Harbor and couldn't have found a nicer restaurant to do it. The views of the bay are amazing; our server was attentive and very kind: we shared hiking experiences and impressions of the island. Definitely recommended.

Great location on the water in an historic Inn. Elegant decor if slightly dated. The food and service were wonderful. I had the cioppino which was fresh and good. My husband had the scallops which were fresh and good. Two in our party had the lazy lobster which also was quite good. The chocolate torte and blueberry pie were excellent.

Loved this restaurant! I greatly appreciate the vegetarian entree option that is something besides salad or a veggie burger! My family members all wanted seafood and they were happy as well. All of the food was amazing and the service was great!
