Smokey's BBQ

Born and raised a Texan, I moved to Maine 12 years ago at age 38. I have been looking for BBQ ever since. There is decent BBQ in areas of the state, but nothing that compares to the south and certainly nothing that reminds me of the utterly unhealthy BBQ of my home state of Texas, which is what makes it so flavorful. I found it today at Smokey’s BBQ in Brewer! The classic sauce I tried was great, but I didn’t even need it on my phenomenal brisket sandwich. I opted for the fatty brisket and it was so flavorful and perfectly smoked that it stood on its own. Thank you Smokey’s for bringing a little Texas to me in my new home! Y’all have got to try this place!

Sometimes the sequel is better than the original. Chuck knows his way around a smoker and Smokey’s BBQ in Brewer is a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow of intense creative focus. This place is a must try. In this day and age of hobbyism odd coupled with homebrewing know it alls and podcasting gurus, anyone who can afford a green egg and watches a YouTube video thinks they got what it takes to make a great plate. Chuck is the real deal. Are you seriously gonna get another hotdog at the Circle K and call it a day? Grow up and try the brisket.

This is Smokey's BBQ second day open in brewer and there was a line to the door when I got there at open. We ordered the unhealthy marriage and the angry bird with a side of Mac and cheese. I am very excited to have local access to authentic bbq. It was so delicious. Smoked juicy meats and very flavorful. Absolutely loved the coleslaw and Mac and cheese and I am picky about those two things. They got their flavors down 100%. I have no doubts they will grow an amazing business here. It is a small and cozy place. They do have some tables and barstools with counter options if u would like to dine in as well. I look forward to going back many times to try all the delicious options.
