We have been visiting Maine for the last 6 years in September, but have never experienced a Maine winter. This year we decided to give it a try, and yet again, Maine didn’t disappoint. The incredible scenery paired with the amazing experience we had at The Birches made for a week we did not want to see end. Every staff member was incredibly helpful and friendly, the cabin was clean and just what we needed, the access to snowmobile trails was top notch, the service and food at the Lodge was wonderful, and the entire resort was pet friendly. We plan to return next year!
Enjoyed the week
Stayed in the Grand View, cozy and convenient. Helpful and courteous staff.
Snowmobiles were a blast! Ice fishing out the back door, awesome
Away with my wife for two nights and love Rockwood Maine. We got a cabin last minute at the Birches, two bedroom. Could I find a fault, yes you always can but just walk outside and see how amazing the view and location is. Both nights we went to the restaurant, with low expectations from reading reviews. They could not be more wrong, food was great and the server we had both nights (Jennifer) just made the trip more special for us, she was awesome. Check in was perfect (check out tomorrow)from making the reservation to checking in, people are great and real. Folks we are in northern Maine, it is not the Carlisle in NYC but I am booking again and bringing kids back. I prefer it and the people. These owners are lucky for the team they have in place.
Enjoyed our stay so much after checking out called about an hour later to see about availability for another night and was treated very rude. Will keep 5 stars and just maybe someone was having a bad day.
The scenery is amazing. Love driving the snowmobiles over the lake to get there. The menu has something for everyone
Thoroughly enjoyed yet another family vacation at the Birches. A diverse party of 12 (two families) kept busy for the whole week - boating, golfing, hiking, canoeing, touring in a float plane…so much to do! We arrived from Florida just as the leaves were starting to change and watched the daily progression with awe. Weather was perfect, clear skies, crisp air and a full moon. Enjoyed sitting by the campfire and admiring nature at her best. Truly peace on earth. We thank our hosts, John and Tanya for their efforts to ensure that we ALL had fun. The Dinners at the Lodge were fabulous - generous portions of delicious food! The vegan options were especially appreciated by several members of our group! We have enjoyed many years of vacationing at The Birches and I know that our multigenerational brood will happily carry on our tradition!
