What a nice place. So friendly staff and food is to die for. While a bit pricy, cocktails and dinner specials were superb.
Absolutely delicious food, great wine and beer selection, and fantastic service. I can't wait to go back!
On vacation in Maine we were searching for someplace to eat for dinner without a long wait. It was my husband‘s birthday and we really wanted a nice meal. After driving for over an hour we were able to locate 50 Local on the internet. To my surprise they had an opening to seat us within 15 minutes of my phone call. Our table was ready when we walked in 10 minutes early. Our meal was absolutely delicious, clearly everything was fresh. I would recommend anyone looking for a great little bistro to stop in to 50 Local our meal was absolutely delicious, clearly everything was fresh. I would recommend anyone looking for a great little bistro to stop in to 50 Local, it is worth every dollar we paid paid! We will be back next time we are in Maine.
Great spot for locals with a very upbeat vibe. BUT SO SO SALTY, and in my opinion, overpriced. We had the roasted beet salad for $13. The serving was minuscule and almost too salty to eat. I had a fish stew for $32 that was again too salty and over priced for its contents: almost all mussels no discernible lobster or shrimp, no clams and a piece of fried something (a fish filet I believe) that was hardly edible. Passable Chardonnay @$11 a glass--again over priced. Wait staff was very pleasant. That said I'm not expecting to return in the near future. Try Pearl Spats, Hurricane or the Tavern instead.
I just love the cozy feel of the place, the exceptional friendly service, the view out of the window, the delicious bread...but the food not that much. Creative dishes that have partial good flavor but a bland or particularly strong taste that makes them hard to eat or enjoy. Nice fresh mussels with a mountain of overly salted large fries on top..Will be back, but just for drinks and bread.
