Ultramar

This spot was suggested by a local, as we were traveling from out of state. The manager, Jeff, was courteous, kind, and accommodating. The aesthetic was a blend of 1920’s and art deco. It was elegant and beautiful. The food was fresh, delectable, and beautifully presented. Our waitress, Lexi, was vivacious, flattering, and attentive. She made us feel welcomed and cared for. Overall service was a 10 out of 10.

We are VERY impressed! In fact, we were amazed that Ultramar had only been open for a few weeks as everything ran perfectly. Decor, food and service we're all excellent.

They clearly put a lot of thought into the look, feel and comfort of the interior. The decor provided a very cool, modern aesthetic, supported by great views of the harbor. A really nice place to sit and eat for a couple of hours.

The food was outstanding at every turn. Beautifully fresh oysters, Hen of the Wood mushrooms, a perfectly balanced salad, delicious halibut with corn succotash, roasted potatoes, and the octopus. Then for dessert, we had the chocolate soufflé and the pavlova. Do you know how hard it is to get that perfectly chewy texture in a meringue? Well, they nailed it. Nice wine list too, with an interesting mix of wines by the glass.

I'll also mention the service because that may be the hardest thing to get right in a new restaurant. Everyone was working as a team to produce flawless service, and it showed. From the moment we came in to when we left each person looked after us like old friends. We will definitely be back!

My husband and I ate here while visiting for the weekend. Everything exceeded our expectations. To start, the dining room was beautiful and the chairs were actually surprisingly comfortable. We started with the espresso martini and Italian Rita cocktails and both were excellent. The ceviche, oysters, and paella were all fresh and delicious. But the star was the grilled octopus with lebneh and carrots. It was cooked to perfection and so well-balanced. Ended with a delicious chocolate soufflé. The staff was great and welcoming. Definitely a must if you are in Kennebunkport.

Absolutely perfect dinner in every way! Beautiful setup inside with comfortable seating and great ambiance. Friendly staff at every turn from the valet to the manager. Amazing servers on top of everything in a relatively new restaurant. Delicious cocktails and great wine selection. Oysters were as fresh as you can get and perfectly clean and crisp. Every dish was perfectly balanced with all the best flavors shining through. Caesar salad, tuna carpaccio, and crab cakes were the best we've had! We had the halibut and branzino (whole fish if the day) and both were cooked perfectly with perfect accompaniments. The gelato (we chose coffee and coconut) was ultra smooth and loaded with flavor and the americanos were expertly pulled. Overall one of the best dining experiences of our lives and perfect for our 15th anniversary dinner! Thank you Ultramar!

Overall once the kinks are straighten out this will be a 5 star restaurant. Food is very flavorful. The only issue I have are the portion sizes. Very small.
