Ridiculously good crab cakes. Have not had cause to order anything else. Lunch special is solid with the soup included. Sides are an after thought and it shows. Cream of crab soup is also excellent most days. But the crabcakes are so good the rest won't matter. Or the price.
I have been searching for a new ‘best crab cake’ in my life ever since my last favorite place closed. Every one has paled in comparison to the memory of those. That is, until the crab cakes at Pappas - though nothing can ever be as sweet as a memory, these come darn close.
My husband and I have been coming here for awhile and we were debating whether to stop coming or not because the service went way downhill the last few times. We decided to go in one more time a few days ago and our waitress, Haley, completely turned it back around for us! She got to us right away, we got our drinks in a speedy manner, never had to ask for a refill, and she made sure everything was okay as much as she could. To top it off the food was delicious! We will definitely be back!
This is by far one of my favorite restaurants. Their crab cakes are the best I've ever had and I felt so comfortable here I decided to have my first drink here. I had their holiday drink the "Grinch" and it was delicious. Definitely a good experience. The waitress Amy I had last time was also super attentive. I can't remember the other waiters/waitresses names I've had before but everyone has been so great.
Easily the best crab cake I've had, beating places like Timbuktu and G&M. Decently sized crab cakes with large chunks of sweet crab cakes with little filler. Not overly seasoned with Old Bay or salt to hide any old inventory, allowing the sweetness of the crab to come through. No strange or bitter after-taste like I've had at other locations. This alone will keep me coming back for more.
Their sides were a bit underwhelming. Got the green beans but they were a bit soggy and bland. I was hoping they would do a quick light stir-fry with some salt and the almonds to keep it crunchy, fresh, and flavorful. Baked potato was nothing special.
This place does get busy on the weekdays.
Interior is showing its age.
