I really liked this place.

There's nothing elegant about it. Nothing cheesy, either. No brightly-colored paintings of Mexican scenes or Aztec/Toltec mythology. No slick menus. There are hand-written signs (in Spanish only) in places. The same lady who took my order cooked it and brought it to me.

This is not a place to book a wedding anniversary dinner.

But, oh, man, the food was tasty. Cooked perfectly, not too spicy. I wouldn't call it pretty, but I didn't care. I loved it.

I'm pretty sure the corn tortillas are homemade. They don't taste like any commercial tortilla I've ever tried.

They have horchata. If you've never tried this rice-milk-and-cinnamon beverage, go for it. But I didn't see it on the menu. One of the signs (I read some Spanish) said they have different "agua fresca" available, so I asked. Glad I did!

I can't wait to go back.
