The Wellwood

Our group had a fundraiser here last week, and everything was perfect. The set dinner served family style was so good everyone commented on it. Amazing how they can deliver a great meal, in and for so many different types of dining experience... Something delicious for every taste.

The wellwood is a good place to eat. They have good service and a wide selection to choose from. They also help support the local community and area schools by hosting events and donating. If your looking for a nice evening out this is the place to go.

Normally I really like this place, but this time the service was not all that it should. We were in the duck room and 2 servers checked in on us from time to time...we got all-you-can-eat crabs for the first time and that comes with chicken, corn and hushpuppies. We really wanted to concentrate on the crabs but trying the other stuff was nice too, but they kept forgetting to bring us anything, so he would sit there for a while without receiving anything. We had to ask a couple times for hush puppies to be brought to the table for the first and only time and we had to ask for chicken for the first and only time... then even for the crabs we were sitting for a while and other tables around us we're getting them. Food was good, just were out longer than expected.

I've heard this place has the best fried chicken, and you know what, they're right! I had the 4 piece with a double cole slaw instead of fries and it was excellent. Comes with a piece of cornbread. To say you have the best fried chicken is really making a statement, but to live up to it is another. Wellwood took the crown for it in my book. It's not as though you're saying, hey can I have my chicken with the batter. This is right on the money! Sushi is excellent also. I haven't had their steamed crabs, but I bet they're just as good. Coming back here, that will be my next feast!

Good service, good food. A little, quiet out of the way place with nice atmosphere. Well prepared food, nicely displayed. Drinks are well priced, wine is portioned well. I was sorely disappointed with the coffee, The decaf tastes like "Sanka" or another chicory blend. Other than being a little noisy, which could be cured by closing the doors to the bar area, this place is well worth a good long drive.
