Red Tails Ocean Grille

Took my granddaughter here for one of our date nights. We picked out our food, and when we ordered, we were told, "We don't have those things." by our server. No apology, no explanation. It would have been great to know those items didn't actually exist before we looked over the menu.

The cream of crab soup was thin, had barely any crab, and very little flavor.

My granddaughter ordered the $30 crab cake dinner. The crab cake was pretty small, and a bit dry from being over broiled. The fries and broccoli were okay. We split an order of calamari. It was a bit chewy, and under-seasoned.
I ordered the seafood platter. The scallops were really good. The fish (catfish) was pretty good. The crab cake was actually a small, overcooked crab ball (think golf ball sized). The 2 oysters were small, and way overcooked/dried out. The 2 shrimp were cooked well.
Service was a bit slow. Our server didn't engage until we received the tab. Then, she became friendly. Strange.

A second visit is unfortunately unlikely. It's too expensive for mediocre food and service. Glad we tried it, though. Otherwise we wouldn't have known.

Great food and service! Mo (bartender) was my waiter he was polite and knew about the menu was able to make suggestion and made really good drinks even asked how I preferred my drink and if I wanted him to make it sweeter. The service was great and the food was even better. We tried the crab cake and the jerk salmon French fries mash potato’s rice broccoli and Brussels sprouts, everything was season very well and tasted really good the vegetables are by far the best marinated in juices and peppers it was good! Would highly recommend definitely plan to go back!

They have happy hour food and drinks available from open to close on Wednesdays! We had wings, mussels, shrimp and grits and chicken tenders & fries. Everything was prepared fresh and was very delicious. Staff is very friendly and hospitable. I will say their entire drink menu is filled with very sugary drinks. We tried the cosmo and the peach beach. Both extremely sweet. I will definitely be back, I want to try more of the tasty food! But I probably won't have a cocktail.

So... we were regular customers up until today. We were slapped with a 22 percent gratuity for just my husband and I. We were not told about this until the bill arrived. We were shocked to see an extra charge for 2 people. They add gratuity on Fridays and Saturdays to every check. Just so the public is aware. Would have been great if our server told us this information prior but it's fine. Our service was good but this is deceptive to the customer.

I went to Red Tails Ocean Grille today, and had a great time. I was seated right away and the service was good. I had deviled eggs, fried oysters and shrimp and grits. It was all flavorful and delicious. I also enjoyed my beverages. What made it fun was the other patrons participating in questions that were being asked. The staff participated of they weren’t busy. I sat for hours meeting people and conversing. I will definitely be back!
