Black Hog BBQ & Bar

The northern Frederick store was a bit loud and very casual at lunch. Difficult for a meaning conversation due to the noise. Semi attentive wait staff.

The chili and the gumbo are excellent starters,. I had the gumbo and after that nothing else mattered, I could have just have had gumbo as my meal and I would have been very happy. I opted for the two meat meal and over-ate! It was all very good. I give this restaurant a thumbs up and must try recommendation.

Sat at the bar less than attentive service. My wife ordered Tito's and the reply was "we're out", no suggestions. Then when wanting a refill, no service. Another customer was told they had none of the beer he like because no one but he drank it, sooo. He said he'd have to start going back to his old bar. We had to chase staff down for the bill..

Food is generally good, but this time too much brown sugar on the dry rub wings. Also, poor service at the bar...wait staff was more interested in gossiping amongst selves than wait on customers ( meaning us). I doubt we'll be back, at least to this one. Left a poor tip ( we are most often great tippers ) but probably more than warranted.

Excellent BBQ and pleasant atmosphere. The ribs are excellent and you can get them served "wet or dry".
The greens are spicy and flavorful, the slaw is wonderful, and the pickles are perfect.
Staff is friendly and prompt.
