La Tolteca

This is one of the best in the chain. I know several others, and went to the originals in Wilmington. One of the highlights is the white salsa you get with chips and regular salsa at the beginning, never seen that before, and it's great. Pleasant staff, smallish establishment, welcoming. Favorite place for take out on the way home. The veggies are fresh, portions generous, and service excellent. It is a very convenient location too. I've never dined in, but the dining area is inviting.

All I can say is WOW!!!!! We haven't had Mexican food this good in years. The restaurant is medium sized and it was somewhat crowded when we arrived. We were seated almost immediately and all of the staff are very pleasant and friendly. We didn't have to wait long for our food. Holy moly was the food DELICIOUS!!!! Seasoned perfect, you don't need to add anything to your food. The portions are very large, larger than we would have imagined. Regardless if what you order, you can't go wrong. John was our waiter and he was AWESOME!!! If you like margaritas, get the Cactus Rita. Sugar no salt.

I ordered the cilantro lime salad. It was delicious, the ingredients tasted fresh, and the portion size was pretty big, but it didn’t have a cilantro flavor, nor a lime flavor. There was no cilantro garnish and it was not served with fresh lime. The server did not check on me after delivering the food so I had to ask another waiter for service. He bought me some cilantro and lime. I had to summons other servers twice during my visit. The staff seemed really laid back. My server spent most of his time chatting it up with his friends at the bar. Must be nice. I would eat here again, but only for takeout.
