I'm not a salad guy but I always look forward to a visit to BareBones and their special salad. They've had the same house beers for years (pictured) which are decent but have not kept up with craft beer expectations. Feel like staying in? They offer their entire menu for carry out and have a dedicated entrance for pick up.
Wish I could give it more, but it really is pretty ordinary. Worse, it was a disappointment. I got ribs, wild rice and slaw. Slaw was 'eh. Rice was about a quarter wild rice. Served in little cups. Ribs not only WERE NOT best as touted, but were less than ordinary. Almost anyone has better ribs. I'll give them this. Everyone else in my party had crab cakes and said they were good. But for me, wish I had money back. Ah well.
Went on Friday evening with my date. When we arrived there was a sign on the door that no band would be there due to inclement weather. So, we decided not to sit on the bar side. I noticed several dining sections. I counted four from where we sat. My date and I ordered the crab cake and ribs. Delicious. We definitely will be returning to try other items on the menu. Maybe the band will show up next time.
I came here for the first time for a Friday night happy hour. It was ok. They had a happy hour buffet where the first plate was free and after that, each additional plate was $2. House wines were $5. Our server was quite busy but he was pleasant. My friend ordered the Cajun salad with chicken. I ordered the potato skins. I also ordered Chardonnay which wasn't bad. Our food came out and the potato skins were perfectly round. I'm used to oval potato skins but that was fine. My friend's chicken was very dry so she sent it back. Instead she asked for shrimp would she liked better. In the meantime a band set up and started playing they sounded really good. All in all I wouldn't return. The prices were pretty expensive and the food wasn't all that good.
I placed a large order of 4 or 5 entrees ($100) for carryout. Picking up was quick and food was prepared very quickly. I got a burger and the appetizer sampler. Both were moderately priced and very delicious. Corn fritters are my favorite, and they're corn so that makes them healthy. Other food ordered was said to be of the same quality.
I've eaten in before a few times and the experience has always been pleasant. Go to their site to see what specials they have on what days!
My only complaint is something another reviewer has said. My appetizer sampler container had kinda gotten burnt through (it's styrofoam) since there wasn't foil covering the back corner. Food was still edible but a bit more foil covering the container would be great.
Overall great place with a cool atmosphere. I definitely recommend.
