This was my first visit here but it will not be my last. Very down-home atmosphere and delicious food make this a great place for lunch.
Go here and get a bbq sandwich...just do it. It's phenomenal pulled pork in a sloppy-joe-esque sauce on a potato bun. It's cheap, you can get a beer with lunch, the folks are super nice...what more can you ask for?
Ma's kettle serves southern comfort cooking. It's like going home with great appetizers, sandwiches, and desserts. The menu changes with specials of the day/week, and the specials are pretty good. Everything is made in house. Seat yourself and familiarize yourself with the family staff that has been working here for years.
Wonderful barbecue and generous portions. The slaw is excellent as well. I really wish there were more little family-owned joints like this.
Honestly, my only complaint are the hours. It's M-F for lunchtime only. I was only able to eat there because I happened to be in the area and had Veteran's Day off. Now I'll be thinking of the place every time I drive through Savage.
One of those local hole in the wall treasures. Ma cooks the best Reuben I've ever had. No exaggeration. And fresh home fried potatoe chips are a guilty indulgence.
