    When we want to blow some carbon and get away from the pressure cooker that is DC, we drive to the upper county, along the Potomac. Basset’s has been part of the ritual for nearly thirty years. Friendly, helpful staff, and good dining. For an off-the-beaten-path establishment, the food is really quite good. Avoid the temptation to eat on the patio during rush hour or on the weekend, though. It’s right on the main road, so the vehicular traffic can be a distraction.

    Update: Visited Bassett's again recently and was pretty pleased with the food. Happy hour is great and it was good service. No real complaints.

    The new management has really improved this place. Lots of new items on the menu. Much improved bar make it the best place in town to watch a game.
