The beef in the Wot dish was fork tender and so well seasoned. The vegetable dishes were cooked in a high quality olive oil and a la minute. The food here always exceeds my expectations.
food good prices just right
I used to live in DC and frequented many Ethiopian restaurants, but I think Ahadu is probably my favorite in the DMV. It's a very quaint and intimate restaurant where the owners are always around. They're extremely friendly and represents the hospitality and culture of Ethiopia. You can't go wrong with the meat sampler with the cabbage and tomato salad.
Served in portions on traditional injira bread the chick peas, potato, greens and other foods were excellent. The spongy bread is torn into pieces and used to scoop up a delicious mouthful from the generous mounds of food. Don't know if this is really "traditional Ethiopian" but a fascinating way to eat that feels a natural part of being human. The ambiance is marginalized by the small strip-mall location but the space is comfy and nicely decorated. Unfortunately, they had no fresh coffee brewed when I was there but I heartily recommend the food.
We stopped by here after the adventure park in sandy spring for lunch. Portions were generous and satisfying. We love to eat at Ethiopian restaurants and this was the best we have ever been to, including those in DC. There were so much food that we brought home leftovers and they still tasted wonderful two days later. Will definitely return to this restaurant the next time we are in the area.
