This is not a slices place. The atmosphere is informal, but the food is more oriented toward fine dining, so much as is possible in a pizzeria context.
The kitchen prominently features a pizza oven. The pizza crust is light, but chewy, and just so delicious. The pizza toppings are very good quality. I have only had comparable quality pizza in a few places in the world. Seriously.
The staff is well trained and very pleasant.
The starters are delicious. The wine menu of smallish, but the wines are tasty Italian wines.
The pizza was a delight. The burrata was to die for. The wine selection was great. They were very thoughtful and careful in regards to my son’s nut allergies. The servers were kind but inattentive. For example, my son broke a glass and they helped clean it up and checked in to make sure no one was hurt. On the other hand, we were short on plates and napkins. The tables and space in general felt cramped. We were constantly negotiating table space for the food we ordered and it was partly because the dishes were not being cleared in a timely manner. I don’t think this place qualifies as a cheap eat...for 4 adults and 3 children we paid $250 bucks for appetizers, dinner, dessert and 3 glasses of wine. I feel like I could get an equivalent meal in DC for that price? If the decor and service were improved I think the price would be worth it.
Friendly, personal service (know your customer). Outstanding pizza, reminding us of Amalfi. Start with a margherita pizza and work through the menu.
Pizza and appetizers are homemade, imaginative, lovingly prepared and delicious. Rather crowded dining area so arrive early. Reminds me of the pizza I had when I lived in Europe. Recommended.
Pretty much the best pizza in the metro area. I have tried them all and this is the place to go! Be prepared because there is usually a wait..... But it is well worth it.
